    Hello Mayor!!!!!

I am a RD in Memphis TN (one of the most unhealthly cities in the nation) and I have been training for 22 weeks to run a the St. Jude Full Marathon on Dec 5th 2009….So it is right around the corner! I will actually be running right past my clinic DaVita Memphis Central on Linden!!!

Keep up the good work with your training and stay away from all dark sodas (except root beer)!!!!

I joined and promptly got H1N1(doc said-no test) so my goal of exercising was severly curtailed. However I have been watching my diet even over Thanksgiving and have shed 8 pounds in November. Yeah. Exercise is back on the agenda this week.Getting healthy is the plan.

Well, I have not done well at all. I am recovering from the flu and it has taken its toll on me. I will just have to restart the plan and keep trying to move forward. With increased activity, I still have a tendency to cough my head off. Thanks for your earlier encouragement, KT! I will keep trying. Thank you for moving us ahead.

Thanks, KT! I am still off the bp meds, but I need to be a little better at monitoring my pressure at home. This morning it was a little high- 123/90, so I need to make myself measure every morning instead of every 3rd or so, as I have been doing. If it doesn’t come back down I may have no choice but to start a half dosage again for my health!
The good news is that I have started pulling clothes out of the “donation” box in my closet that were too small, and wearing them! It’s like a free shopping spree, and I am starting to refill the box with the clothes that are now too big. Exciting!

Thanks so very much KT — your encouragement came when I needed kudos. I’ve kept the exercise going and have even added 20 minutes of resistance workout 3 nights a week. But due to several things beyond my control, exercise is the only thing that is going well – the last couple of days have been rough. The fact that *you* took the time out of the schedule you have to congratulate me means more than you will ever know. Thank you.

This is not just the greatest dialysis company the world has ever seen – it is the greatest company, period, in the world! No brag, just fact.

“Better late than never”? I am currently in my second week at the gym working with a trainer once a week. I felt I could afford this due to the fact that I have quit smoking this week.

Yesterday marked one year from my bilateral mastectomies and the sedentary lifestyle I had been leading since then was unacceptable! I thank you for your encouragement and this program to assist me in my own lifestyle changes.

    Good Morning Mayor,
Just a little up date: I haven’t seen my mom or husband in two months they are is still up North selling our home. When they saw me they just could not believe the difference. Besides not seeing each other for that long period of time, they couldn’t believe after all these years I managed to lose the 10 plus pounds that I have been trying to lose. I told them all about The Match the Mayor Program and how your journals have helped me to achieve my long lost goal for shedding 10 pounds. I used to buy all large size scrub pants and I just went out bought new one a size SMALL, never in my life have I ever been in a size SMALL.YAH ME!!!! Any way they had to return to Baltimore and I was so heart broken. I started to eat cookies and ice cream until my son Austin who is 12 took the cookies away and told me it would be ok and the junk food would look horrible back on my hips. He was so right, what do the say “Out of the Mouths of Babes”. I quickly snapped out of it and we have taken are 60 crunches up to 120 each night before we go to bed and I now walk more. Remember I am someone who thought exercise was a dirty word and never exercised in her life. I felt like Julia Roberts in “Pretty Women” yesterday walking with my shopping bags in hand down the parking lot. Keep up the good work your self and thank you for the encouragement.
Thanks you so much and I have a lot to Thank You For,
    God Bless

Hello Mayor! Thanks for the kudos and you’re right-the wedding is a great goal to reach for. I’m determined to get into the size 12 dress that right now is a little snug. I plan to dance the night away so it’s a wedding, party and workout all in one night! I must confess, the sweet tooth monster reared it’s ugly head over the holiday weekend, but thank fully no weight gain! I feel so blessed that I am able to be active again after back surgery last year so each day is a gift. This program is a great encouragement to me and from the other posts I have read, to other teammates as well. Thanks KT! Keep on keepin’ on! DJ
