Yo to the World Team Health group in DaVitaLand!
Yesterday’s all day back to back meetings covered things like Healthcare Reform, marketing, DaVita National Quality meeting, public policy progress, etc. I ultimately left the office at the unusually early time of 6:30 to take 3 of our high potential Directors out to dinner.
At dinner they got to ask any questions of me, and provide advice on any topic, particularly those where they think we need to change something at DaVita to continue to improve. I then asked for any recent highlight events or experiences in their last 12 months at the Village. It was a great dinner, and I did not over-eat! I did work voicemail on the drive home, where I arrived at about 8:45 pm.
This morning I got 24 solid minutes on the bike in, one set of curls (20×17), and 3 minutes of stretching. Total minutes of 29. But the good news is my weight was down another pound, to 186, within 2 pounds of my goal.
More importantly, I am taking some days off over the next week, and I do not have much work scheduled for the weekends, so I should get in some GREAT exercise and rack up a lot of minutes!!
I am a bit sensitive to the fact that I am taking several days off during MTM V – I would not want DaVita citizens to get the wrong impression – I only took 1.5 days off in the first 5 months of the year, and our recent process for negotiating the recently announced acquisition of Healthcare partners meant we were hustling 7 days a week for about 7-8 weeks, and so I am grabbing some time off during this period to try to get healthier and get more family and reflection time.
I hope you are enjoying your participation in Team Health! 3600 partners in health …. Take care .. kt

My July 4th celebration starts this weekend by celebrating my daughter’s 27th birthday. We will start tonight with bowling. Tomorrow is a day at the beach playing volleyball, flying kites, frisbee, body surfing, etc. Then Sunday we will probably take a hike in one of the beautiful trails in Southern California. Have a great American Celebration teammates!!!!

Hello KT!
I hope you have an awesome few days off & get to enjoy & savor the much deserved time away!
I am loving the MTM as it makes me accountable & when I think, I am too tired to get exercising, I find my competitive inside voice saying, “just do it, you will feel better afterwards!” and I do!
Have a safe holiday & I will look forward to your next blog!
Wendy

Enjoy your family! You deserve some time to just be.
We are being asked to share our plans for the 4th July as it relates to getting active with our family and friends. I’m riding my bike to my in-laws (mostly uphill and about 20 miles) and then spending the afternoon swimming with the kids. We have races, play pool games, and other fun pool activities.
Ride (and swim) on!

Gotta take time to stay grounded. I’ll be going hiking to Red Rock over the holiday, course it will be early a.m. since our temps are reaching 108 right now.
I was going to use a pass for yesterday… didn’t do any walking or yoga. Then I remembered the work at our denovo. Moveing 2 pallets of granuflo, and getting rid of two weeks of empty boxes was no joke! (although loved how my arms felt the next day lol) Again the heat is a factor, too. I didn’t realize how active I can be at work until I stood back and reflected. I got my exercise minutes and an organized storeroom/ro room 😉

No worries Mr Mayor -you work hard so don’t feel bad about taking down time. We all have to recharge our batteries sometime! I think swimming is going to be the exercise for me next week especially when it’s hitting 110 in the shade here in AZ. I’m down 3lbs –17 more to go! Have a great weekend to all!

Enjoy your time off and your family – I sometimes feel that my closest family is those I work with as I spend more time with them than my own family.
As my in laws and my parents age the holidays we get to spend together is precious. We will be having a “family” picnic for @ 60 and my daughter has requested that we “go back to playing softball” – a tradition that has been forgotten as we age and the younger generation has small kids to deal with. Hopefully this won’t result in any injuries that will keep me from managing my new facility.

KT – we have done wiffleball instead of the normal softball – also there are some really soft softballs that are the next level up … enjoy! family games are the best! kt
