From KT – June 30, 2012
Greetings to the good people of DaVita,
I hope you are all going to take advantage of the weekend to get some great healthy exercise.
This morning (Saturday am) I had the luxury of sleeping in until 8:30, then got up and did a strong set of mountain biking for 90 minutes – substantial vertical, on terrain that added to the intensity. However, I must admit that I treated myself to a cheeseburger for lunch after!
I also will declare with big happiness that I did almost zero work today! What a nice relief that was.
3600 teammates are locked arm in arm with you, in our shared quest for better health.
One for All … kt

KT,
You inspired me to go out and get a bike to ride. Reading you comments about you riding your bike reminded me that bike riding was my favorite activity when I was a kid, (and I am sick of walking on my walking machine all the time) and I decieded that if I could find what I term a normal bike I would get one. No gears, no hand brakes, just a plain bike. Peddle forward to go, peddle backward to stop. I found such a thing this weekend, and brought it home. I was so excited I took a bike ride with my youngest daughter (13 soon to be 14 in about 11 days), and we rode 5 miles. 2.5 miles to the vegetable stand, and of course the same back home. Luckly my folks live near there, because I forgot to check the handle bars before I left home, and they moved on there. My dad helped me fix it up, and after a short chat my daughter and I were off. We ate an apple at the vegetable stand, bought some other fruit and back home we went. My daughter kept going slow for me, and I kept having to tell her to speed up some before I ran her over. Turns out all the walking I have been doing has been good for me, because it is my first time on a bike ride in 20 years and it was GREAT!! Thank you KT for reminding me that I actually enjoy bike riding. Have a great 4th everyone and a wonderful week.
