Yo DaVitans !!
It is Friday afternoon. I worked until noon, conference calls. Then headed out for a GLORIOUS 65 minute mountain biking ride. A lot of vertical, so a great cardio and leg strength workout, including the Gutbuster Hill, which I made it up all the way for the first time this summer. Yes!
So far today 1.5 servings of fruit, one serving of shredded wheat produce, and 1 serving of vegetable. But tonight’s dinner is at a French restaurant, might be hard to get the 1.5 servings I need. Before dinner we will be going to a Mozart concert, in an outdoor covered amphitheatre, a spectacular setting with trees, bushes and flowers on the hill directly behind the stage.
Tomorrow I hope to do a longer and more intense mountain bike or road bike workout, along with an extensive PT and stretching session. We may also do a short hike. Sunday is booked for a long hike with a picnic lunch.
We have a Board of Directors meeting coming up in 2 weeks. The summer meeting is always focused on strategy, so the calls today were intensely focused on refining our thoughts and presentations of our enterprise strategy, as well as the individual businesses. If you had told me 16 years ago that we would be running a $13 billion revenue enterprise with 67,000 teammates across 11 countries, I would have said that is highly unlikely. If you had told me we would have materially differentiated clinical outcomes, I would have said “damn straight we will.” And we do, so please think about that as you enjoy the holiday weekend, it is a great reality to be a part of.
As I am also enjoying sharing this journey with you. I need to find out what gaps there have been in my reporting with Village Vitality, and so I can backfill those.
