Yo DaVitans !!
It is Friday afternoon. I worked until noon, conference calls. Then headed out for a GLORIOUS 65 minute mountain biking ride. A lot of vertical, so a great cardio and leg strength workout, including the Gutbuster Hill, which I made it up all the way for the first time this summer. Yes!
So far today 1.5 servings of fruit, one serving of shredded wheat produce, and 1 serving of vegetable. But tonight’s dinner is at a French restaurant, might be hard to get the 1.5 servings I need. Before dinner we will be going to a Mozart concert, in an outdoor covered amphitheatre, a spectacular setting with trees, bushes and flowers on the hill directly behind the stage.
Tomorrow I hope to do a longer and more intense mountain bike or road bike workout, along with an extensive PT and stretching session. We may also do a short hike. Sunday is booked for a long hike with a picnic lunch.
We have a Board of Directors meeting coming up in 2 weeks. The summer meeting is always focused on strategy, so the calls today were intensely focused on refining our thoughts and presentations of our enterprise strategy, as well as the individual businesses. If you had told me 16 years ago that we would be running a $13 billion revenue enterprise with 67,000 teammates across 11 countries, I would have said that is highly unlikely. If you had told me we would have materially differentiated clinical outcomes, I would have said “damn straight we will.” And we do, so please think about that as you enjoy the holiday weekend, it is a great reality to be a part of.
As I am also enjoying sharing this journey with you. I need to find out what gaps there have been in my reporting with Village Vitality, and so I can backfill those.

One for all, KT

Flash Report
30 minutes of quiet time yesterday. Was glorious, outside, in the mountains!
5 servings of produce yesterday. Plum, grapes, shredded wheat (!), huge salad with greens from our own garden, spinach and kale and lettuce … broccoli also from our garden, etc.
And an intense hour of exercise, on top of the > 10,000 steps. I did 31 minutes of good climbing on my mountain bike, then 7 minutes of hiking uphill when it was too steep and rough to bike ( for me at least), then walked back down to bike, then rode back down to cabin. Was just what I needed after 7 hours of conference calls, a couple of them with some serious bad news. Nothing like fresh air and exercise to put the joy back into life !!
Got to run to my next call. Ciao, Your Mayor, KT

Sorry Campers!
I have been running so fast I have barely been able to touch email, much less do an MTM journal entry. Sorry! I came off the 12 day trip to Poland, Germany, Austria and New York with quite a backlog, despite the many evening conference calls. My email backlog is now:
- OOTM (office of the mayor, my assistants) 57
- HCP executives 31
- HCP general 173
- KC, RX & enterprise execs 102
- Hilton Group (the next 130 KT & RX vp’s) 233
- Select Teammates 671
- Outside People 1241
- Kidney care general, including daily media coverage 2373 (sorry I am quite behind on this one!)
More later, I have to get on a couple hours of calls. Hope all is well. KT

Yo!
On a plane now, will land in Denver about 11 pm body time, 9 pm Denver time. Had 3 servings of fruit today, 2.5 servings of veggies. Went to bed about 11 pm after the Hindu wedding, got up at 5:50 to get a workout in before I started the 2 hour drive into Manhattan from Long Island, for my day of meetings. Just had time for a solid 25 minute lifecycle session, plus 5 minutes of stretching. Caught up on all my voicemails on the drive in, that was good!
Had fish and chicken for lunch, and chicken and lamb for dinner. Very productive 4 hour flight, reviewed most of the Board of Director presentations for our upcoming July meeting. Also cleared out a couple hundred emails.
Am tired. Because my plane is late because of weather, had to cancel the call I had for after I land. I will visit my dear Mommy on the way home. Once home I will pack up because Denise and I are heading up to the mountains tomorrow after work. I will work up there on Thursday and Friday am, then take Friday afternoon and the weekend off! Glorious.
I hope you are all achieving your goals. If you haven’t check out Uma’s journal entries, she is wonderful! And some of her foods sound quite exotic.
Ciao! Your Mayor, KT
