Yo DaVitans,
Yo to Kizmat from Atlanta, a second time … for your second kickboxing class. I am not sure you should do them 2 days in a row given what an increase in activity it sounds like it represents. consider alternating between high and medium intensity days. all the best!
Yo to Cori from Chino, California … how about some workout stuff you could do at home, in the same room as your 3 year old? good luck …
Yo to Rebekah, from Gilbert Arizona …. 14 pounds in a month is amazing! i am excited for you, and jealous to be honest. Good luck in that first 5k, and I look forward to hearing that you are in fact off your high blood pressure meds.
Yo Helen from Chicago Heights, IL …. good to hear you started modestly, with 15 min at 2.5 mph … and fun to hear how quickly the numbers are increasing. I wish you the best …
and Yo to the rest of the team — we are well over 800 strong! and that in fact is the right word, because setting a health goal, ANY health goal, and sticking to it IS a sign of being strong. strong to live, as well as to think.
One for All & All for One,
KT

Since I stared the Match the Mayor program I have lost 10 pounds and feel great! My energy level and enthusiasm to continue are far beyond my expectations/goals I set out to accomplish. Outstanding Village Vitality program…thanks!

Wow, it feels good to get a shout-out from KT! 🙂 I wanted to give an update after the weekend, and that was nice to see.
I did the 5K this weekend- 52:20 was how long it took me. That is 8 minutes faster than the 3-mile walk I take with a friend on Saturdays, so while it is definitely an improvement, I know I can do better next time!
I kicked up the intensity this week with my next phase in the Couch to 5K program so my run/walk last night was a bit more running than before. I still don’t love it, but it felt good afterward. I found another way to get weighed besides the doctor’s (I don’t own a scale) so I’ll go weigh in today at lunch and find out if I’ve made progress there since last week.
One more week of low bp measurements and I will be off the medications completely, and it’s looking good so far!

Rebekah that is so AWESOME!!! I may have to also try the Couch to 5K program also. But I ABSOLUTELY hate cold weather… and yes, it does get cold in Georgia. So I’m not sure how consistent I would be, but you’re really motivating me to at least try it out. I’m also going to encourage my mom and some of the patients to try it also. This process seems so much easier when you begin to build a support system around you. Thanks for sharing and definitely let us know when you’re off the bp meds. Maybe KT and I will drink a diet coke in your honor to celebrate…..LOL

I was doing so well…then the family and I went on a 3 day weekend cruise to Ensenada and besides eat all day, I did use the stairs 90% of the time…does that count? The good news is I didn’t gain any weight, the bad news…I didn’t lose any weight!
