Dear DaVitans!
Today is Wednesday, and it is a scorcher, about 100 degrees. Same for yesterday.
I will be brief, since I am promised to take an 8 year old into the pool after lunch, and he is sitting patiently next to me. So far. Yesterday Tuesday I woke up after 9 luxurious hours of sleep. I had an apple for breakfast, 1.5 servings. I waited a bit for one of my friends, and we were off. The driveway is too steep with loose stone to take road bikes up, so we start by walking our bikes for 10 minutes or so to the top — which actually gets the blood flowing, because it was already quite hot at 9:30.
Off we went for a 2 hour 45 minute ride! It was not as grueling as the day before, because my friend rarely rides a bike, but it was a hot one. we did about 2200 feet of ascent, and burned about 1400 calories, versus 1700 the day before. The actual time was over 3 hours, because after 2 hours he needed to stop for a coke and an ice cream cone to get his energy back for the finish. I had another apple at lunch, 1.5 servings more, and .5 servings of veggies. Then we went off to see an medieval city, where I must admit I succumbed to having one of those spectacular Italian gelatos. Strawberry, raspberries, and lemon. Wow.
Dinner had 1.5 servings of veggies, consisting of a very healthy salad and some healthy beans, I can’t remember the name.
Then another 8.5 hours of sleep before waking up today, Wednesday. Denise and I went on an 80 minute hike, and had a good conversation catching up on many aspects of our life, as I have been working so much and traveling as well that we have not had good quiet time for a bit. I will do an hour or two of work later today, but now it is play in the pool with an 8 year old, which will bring back fond memories of time with my little munchkins, now 23 and 21.
I hope all of you are doing well today, encouraging each other, reaching out to some of the others in the campaign, 2000 teammates with arms locked together, helping each other lead healthier lives!
