Yo DaVitans !
Good morning! It is Saturday and I am feeling so grateful to be alive and healthy.
I had my post-op appointment with the surgeon yesterday at 7:25 am. It went fine, but we had some issues so the total time consumed was 3.5 hours instead of 30 minutes. So I was scrambling doing conference calls on my cell phone in the building lobby. I had not brought my Bluetooth so I had to hold the phone up to my ear, which feels absolutely barbaric at this point, and darn tiring after an hour or two.
I did 35 minutes of low resistance but reasonably high RPM lifecycle, which is all I am allowed. Therefore I also did a one hour hike up a hill in a beautiful forest near home. Did this with two close friends, so it was a great time to review each other’s lives, what is going well, what is not. We discussed family, work, health, and our goals for the upcoming years. We did not finish on the hike, so we sat for another 30 minutes in the backyard, and then I also got together with one of them last night and we spent another 2 hours. This was good for the soul.
Walking around with blurred vision is quite humbling, even though the blur is manageable.
I hope each of you is finding the time to build a new and healthy habit during MTM … whether is it a daily walk, a daily reflection, reading time, whatever. Life is a team sport, we are in this together, sharing a big chunk of life’s journey. Our Village does so many good things for our patients and for each other – may it always be so.
Take care, Your Mayor, KT

Reminders to take the time for a little walk outside, especially when you can do so with friends, are always welcome! Need to do it more. Thanks, KT

Hey Alyssa, you are so right, it felt so powerful and comforting to reflect on our individual and collective lives a bit … in a casual but serious way …. And some teasing of course …As Socrates once said “The unexamined life is not worth living.” Now that may be a bit extreme, but some rigorous reflection is good. KT

For me I have a ton of health issues, RA, ankylosis Spondylitis, 2 brain surgeries, and last latent Tb. My health is my biggest crutch. But because I love going to work making my patients smile every day when they first walk in the door. I choose to push through all my ailments and fight to get my steps. Even on my “bad days “ I choose not to show it because there are so many more people like our patients that have it so much worse! So everyday I am thankful to be able to put both feet above ground and walk with my crown on my head and “ walk like a boss”!! Thank you Mayor KT and hope you heal well!

Dear Lara, You are a Warrior !! A Buddhist – secular – special – life warrior. You make me feel like a whiner, so I will straighten up and follow in your footsteps.
Take care, KT

This challenge has been great for me and it has started me on a regular path of many more steps than I’ve been doing in the past. The results are so rewarding. It’s fun to be part of this inspiring group!
