How do you fit in 7-9 hours of sleep?
“Planning ahead for me is key. And I’ll add that I’m not necessarily “good” at this, but I can at least share my intentions and practices. There are nights where I know I have a mix of work and family activities, and early morning meetings/calls where my sleep will be limited to maybe 5, or even less, hours. That’s when I’ll purposely plan for following nights to ensure I can finish up work early evening and get some downtime with family, clear my head, and get to bed earlier, or allow myself to sleep in a little later. I look more at trends than every single night, since there are so many variables to manage.” Dave Hoerman, Chief Wisdom Officer
“I go to bed early and stop using all electronics 30 minutes before I turn in.” Traciee Huff, FA
“Be efficient during the day. Conveniently fall asleep next to my daughter when she falls asleep.” Jonathan Lujan, Lifeline
“I have a rigid bed time of 10 pm.” Tim Greene, ROD
“My husband and I cut out the TV show that we watched each night! Instead we talk over a meal and a glass of wine and go to bed quite a bit earlier.” Elise Duke, GVP- Titan
“I schedule my days carefully, including a bed time. I have placed a high priority and value on sleep as it is a fundamental component of good health.” Mandy Hale, VP of Nursing

Stay very active during the day and take a relaxing bath with lavender or chamomile essential oils thirty minutes prior to bedtime.

Working and being a full time student as well as running a student organization on campus does not prevent me from getting at least 7 hours of sleep during the week. Since my work and school schedule is already set, I utilize my phone calendar to schedule other activities and receive alerts to remind me to complete planned activities. On every weekday, I’m in bed at 9:45pm, thanks to the alarm alert I also set in placed. I have no problem falling and staying asleep. I pride myself as a good sleeper and I get a full 8 hours of sleep during the weekend.

I turned everything off and put essential oils on the bottom of my feet, such as lavender, and this helps relax me. I make sure my cell phone light or any blue light cannot be seen while I sleep. I get my 8 hours each night.

I’ve made it a priority to stop what I am doing and start getting ready for bed at 11pm to ensure I am ready to close my eyes at (or before) midnight.

I have to get my sleep. I have no problem getting at least 7 hrs every night. I have to in order to work every day and take care of my husband who is a dialysis patient. Thankfully he is able to work, but I still make sure his meds are done for the week, his doctor appts are made, & he is doing what he should.

I have set a bedtime. I am also making myself put down the phone. I am using an actual alarm clock so that I’m not always waking and looking at my phone to make sure of the time or that I didn’t miss the alarm. Also turning off the tv, I used to like the background noise but I find that I sleep much better with real peace and quiet.

20 minutes of meditation each morning helps me to prepare for my work day; and for the unexpected.

I run on 5-7 hours of sleep seems to be enough most of the time. When I don’t get it being on call and out all night it’s hard to catch up. More sleep makes me more tired. I too have alarm on my Fitbit to tell me bedtime at 1100

Before going to bed, I use a therapy pearls eye mask (warmed) for about 10 minutes which really helps to relieve the strain in my eyes. During this time, I usually try to put on some relaxing music or just lay quietly. By the end of this, I feel relaxed and ready for bed 🙂

In my household, dinner is early. Then 30 minutes after dinner we walk our dog around the neighborhood.
When we get home we all take warm baths and head to our bedrooms- no TV there. My 7 year old and I take turn to read books. or tell each other stories … till he falls asleep. The normally active day plus work and household chores makes sleeping easy for me.

I turn off everything in my room light and TV and jus relax and think about 10 things I’m grateful for before I sleep. This helps bring positivity to my life.

My husband and I have a meditation app with guided 15-minute meditations… if the kids want to join, they can, if not, that’s fine. It doesn’t always work but when it does it’s much easier to fall asleep and stay asleep.
