Jody Fix, LEXINGTON, VAI am looking forward to earning my second pin for Matching the Mayor. This is a fun and effective way to monitor your servings and exercise and makes it like a game. Loved last year’s and so far this year’s is just as fun. (Do miss the post cards from last year though)

KT – Dear Jody – what were the post cards from last year? Was that the format for Route 66? Do you think anyone under age 40 had any memory of what Route 66 was? KT

Travis West, BRENTWOOD, TNThis is fun eh? Glad to get started this year with the rest of the folks going KT. Looking forward to see how consistent I can be along the way. Hope to hit my goal, see some sights, and enjoy the ride. Thanks for the challenge.

KT – Yo Travis – hope you have hit your goals these first 3 days! KT

Kelly Frye, JACKSON, TNThis is my first time joining Match The Mayor. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

KT – Shout out to Kelly, new victim, I mean participant. The only advice is to think about what would be a meaningful but doable change, commit to it out loud, and then savor the fact that you are locking arms with 800 other teammates doing the same thing. It is glorious! KT

Amanda Lail, KAUFMAN, TXGreat motivation guys.

    KT – Darn straight. Kt

Jennifer Brewer, DENVER, COSo excited to be joining this Team and move forward in achieving a healthy lifestyle. Thanks to everyone who has joined so far and let’s keep all the positive motivation going. With that said I will motivate myself today since I have already had a delicious cupcake this morning from the Casa Nueva Bake Sale. It was good, and it was my splurge for the week. 🙂

KT – Yo Jennifer—well I just had a chocolate chip cookie, as I am on a plane not landing until 1:30 am. yikes. But I need to avoid turning bad food into a reward for tough days. KT

Gary r. Bjorkman, DELAND, FLNever done this before so I need support team please

KT – Dear Gary – we are here for you! have you set a goal? KT

Katie Reeves, LADY LAKE, FLSo very excited to join everyone is this year’s Match the Mayor. I joined last year, but didn’t really get involved. Not this year. I am in it all the way!

KT – Dear Katie, welcome back …. Especially all in! KT

Pamela Brule, MINNEAPOLIS, MNHi, all – Very excited for another Match the Mayor~! I find the “doing-this-together” aspect and the fun on-line tracking to be very helpful. My goal is to lose another 15lbs. this year doing MTM with all of you. I’ve been under stress the last month or so due to our son’s deployment to Afghanistan – he leaves U.S. soil today…. I know he’s an adult trained Marie, but he’s still my “baby”. I am tracking all of my nutrition daily, as well as my workout minutes. My goal is to lose 20 lbs. by October 1 for our trip to Hawaii. My downfall is weekends, when I fail to track or exercise and then re-gain what I’ve lost during the preceding week. Anyone else?

KT – Dear Pamela, first please thank your son for his service. On behalf of all 800 of us. Second, you might want to think about exercising first thing on Saturday and Sunday mornings, which for some people helps them avoid splurging because they feel so darn good. KT

Ginny Jacob, BERWYN, PAI joined Planet Fitness last night and was there bright and early this morning….the first step!

KT – You go Ginny! Make sure you don’t’ set the bar too high, you don’t want to beat yourself up too badly if you miss a day or two. KT

Erin Knab, CINCINNATI, OHWalking a few miles a couple times a week can go a long way. You don’t have to run, just fast paced walking….really works

KT – Greetings Erin – you are absolutely right. calories in, calories out. KT

Andrea Bates, MIDDLEBURG HTS, OHFound a pretty good idea for breakfast: I bought crepes which surprisingly are low carb and low fat. I fill them with fresh fruit and fat-free whip cream and they are so good!

KT – Yo Andrea – thx for sharing this idea! I am a shredded wheat guy myself, non-frosted, but then I put some honey-nut cheerios on top to give it a little sweetness. KT

SUSAN MEESE-MORRIS, PLANTATION, FLI consumed a whopping total of 9 fruit and veggie servings today. It’s pretty easy to accomplish when you are attending a Dietetics conference!!!! Most likely one of few conferences where people complain about sweets (ice cream) for a mid-morning snack.

KT – Yo Susan — 9!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I doubt I will match that on any one day. awesome. KT

Jennifer Merens Leake, DELAND, FLI belly dance for fitness and have recently added a new workout using a product called “fluidity.” It’s pretty neat and fun, like ballet.

KT – Dear Jennifer – well my dancing would never be labeled “fluidity”. Maybe “futility” instead. But I will persever with biking and running and some other stuff. KT

Emily Hastings, EL SEGUNDO, CAOne thing to say – I LOVE SPIN! WOO HOO….

KT – Greetings Emily – I want to check out a spinning class sometime, it sounds like my kind of thing … KT

Valerie Jackson, MILLEDGEVILLE, GAYou are addicted to spin…admit it! Can’t wait to see you on Tour!

Sharon Edmondson, BRENTWOOD, TNExcited about MTM! Hopefully, everything will remain routine even after MTM is over. WOOHOO!!!

KT – You are right Sharon – the key is to make a new habit , of whatever your new behavior is. KT

Anna Chew, DALY CITY, CAI just got back from a trip to Israel and am LOVING the Israel National Trail.

KT – Yo Anna … welcome back! KT

Megan Kemp, TACOMA, WAMy new favorite recipe is: 1/2 c of cooled, brown rice; chopped red, yellow and orange peppers; sliced carrots; chopped avocado; sliced cucumber; crumbled feta and goat cheeses; dress with olive oil and balsamic vinegar; top with toasted, slivered almonds for some extra crunch. This is an energy booster and sustainer. I love it!

KT – Wow. Megan, that is more ingredients than I use in a week. KT

Paula Dixon, BALTIMORE, MDHula Hoop Classes!! What a blast!! Can’t believe what a workout it is!! We used to do this fun as kids and think nothing about it!!

KT – I could never do a hula hoop Paula …… Kt

    Hi KT,
Not sure if you remember me, I spoke in the Nationwide after losing 120lbs, getting rid of diabetes, high blood pressure and high cholestrol, I’m also a “We are Well Winners.” This is my 2nd year doing this and I love to read the encouraging words from each other and you. I also love to encourage others, we have a friendly competion going here the Lab against the Warehouse. I get a kick out a good challenge and I am so thanful for a company that promotes healthy lifestyles, thanks again and see you on the trail.
    Maggie

Dear Maggie, I remember our conversation, it is not often you talk to someone who loses 120 pounds! What is the Warehouse? And our Village Vitality programs come naturally to us, because we are a community first and a company second. KT

Thanks, sorry let me rephrase as my fellow teammates here reminded me that they are called “Lab supplies” the same department ranked #1 in the HOS 3 quarters in a row? And I’m in Lab Customer Support who are #2, so now you know why we are in competion. I love that I can come to a place and work, make a difference in other people’s lives, get healthier and have fun, how cool is that. I wish you and others well during this Match the Mayor!
