Yo Davita!!
It is Friday as I type this, I am back from our family trip to China. It was great! Not only the Olympics, but also the traveling I did with my 20 year old son. We covered a lot of countryside over 8 days, including a day with the Mayor of a small village (population 2,300 with an average income of $1,300 per year per family).
The bottom line regarding my goal of 9 in 90?
I broke even. Meaning I am still at 195. No gain, no loss. This means I gained weight in the first week, when we were in a nice Marriott Hotel in Beijing, for the Olympics. They had big buffets, where I always feel pressure to get my money’s worth. I know I lost some during the second week, as my son and I spent a lot of time in places where the food was not so attractive or safe.
So I remain down 2 pounds, but now it is after 22 days. 57 to go.
I was a good boy on the plane home. Cheryl, my assistant/boss, sent a bunch of stuff for me to review. And I was able to work on some plans and professional development reviews, so I got a good 8 hours of work done on the plane. I landed at 8 a.m. California time, because of the 15 hour time difference. I went right to work and was able to stay awake all day, meaning I stayed up for about 30 hours straight. Once, I started to drop off I went and did a 30 minute workout to re-energize. I collapsed into bed at 8:30 p.m. California time.
Today started with email at 7 a.m. and a call at 7:30, so I am back in the swing of things. I stopped working at 6 p.m., leaving time for a solid 45 minute workout before dinner. My lunch was chicken, cauliflower and brown rice.
I hope you are all well! I look forward to hearing how others are doing, and how many have joined hands in the quest for better health and greater “Village Vitality!”

I went to Rehoboth Beach, Delaware for three days to kick-start my exercise regimen and I did great! Walked for 30 minutes on the first days, walked for one hour on the second and third day and also swam (in the ocean) for 30 and 45 minutes, respectively, for the two days. My calves were so sore by Friday. Not as active as that since I came home, but I did get up and take a 20 minute walk BEFORE work today, and I do notice an increase in energy. I still am eating well–no sugar, no flour, no alcohol. You notice I haven’t mentioned my weight: I do not have a scale at home (never have), so I must get to the gym tonight to weigh in. Now that I have started regular exercise, I wonder why I waited so long!
