From KT – October 31, 2010
Dear DaVitans,
I left Cambodia a little before noon today, to fly to Singapore, then Hong Kong, then back to the US. The total journey is about 25 hours, although with the time change it will be 9 pm California time when we land there at the end of all those hours.
I did not know that Cambodia was one of the leading civilizations in the world back in the 1100 and 1200’s, during the Khmer Empire. They build some stunning temples, some of which took thousands of workers 30 years to build. Lousy benefits, no profit sharing, but beautiful temples. Then they were overtook by the jungles, and some not discovered until as recently as the 1920’s.
I worked out 4 of the 5 days there, by walking to a hotel near ours that had a gym. It cost $20 a day to use as it was a nice hotel and gym, but was worth it. I will not bore you with the minutes of each day, but the basic routine was 20-25 minutes on the lifecycle, with a sprint or three at the end, combined with some stretching and muscle stuff.
I have not been on a scale since October 9th when I left the US for the business part of the trip. So I will get back to the US and take another 3 weeks to pursue my goal if I have not already – and I doubt I have. But I am happy I beat my exercise minutes goal, and achieved some reasonable balance between cardiovascular, strength, flexibility and balance.
And I am even happier about how many of you have hit your goals! There really is power in a team effort, a community effort … at least for many of us. I am typing this on the plane, on the last day, and savoring the mental image of 1173 of us crossing the finish line together, hands joined and faces smiling. We did good. Together.
I am going to get to do some Academies in 2011, which I am very excited about. I look forward to seeing many of you there! Until then, or until some other DVA University class, or until Match the Mayor IV next year, take care of yourself

KT & teammates,
I made it to the end of Route 66 a couple of weeks ago. I really enjoyed your blog and the comments and encouragement of other teammates. Everyone is working so hard and it is contagious! There have been some great suggestions about getting fit. I have been enjoying riding my stationery bike and have made it a habit now. Also getting in more walking..I finally went and saw the mall near us (which was remodeled & expanded 2 years ago!) I didn’t enjoy going to the before I had my knee replacements because of the pain. I plan to go do some mall walking this winter before the stores open on the weekends.
Take care everyone,
Debbie in Tacoma Team Evergreen
