How do you find the energy to wake up so early after going to sleep so late day in and day out? Do you take supplements?

KT– I am worried about you not getting enough sleep. Sleep is so important for its restorative properties. You should be getting 7-8 hours per night. See this site for back up to what I am saying. http://www.nhlbi.nih.gov/health/health-topics/topics/sdd/why.html

As a nurse it is my job to care for folks. I just want you to be the best you can be and that takes sleep.

Thank you for the inspiration. I don’t know how you squeeze so much into one day! You can conquer the diet coke demon! I went gluten free for allergy reasons over a year ago. I quit soda and coffee cold turkey at the same time because the caramel coloring in soda is sometimes made with wheat (gluten) and coffee was just a kicker to better health. On July 1st removed Dairy and Sugar from my diet due to another allergy problem. I guess the dairy and sugar were effecting me more than I thought because since the 1st of July I have lost 7 pounds! Keep in mind that I did not remove any of these for weight loss reasons… that is just an added BONUS!!! I have been a large man all of my life and my nutritionist thinks a lot of it had to do with food allergies. If a foodie like myself can remove all of these things from my daily life you can kick the Diet Coke Demon!!!!

    KT,

It is impressive to look into the life of a CEO and realize how many different tasks are accomplished daily. Thank you again for sharing it with us; this shows that we could be doing many more things if we decided too.

Lossing 5.2 Lb is a great victory, considering all the meetings, travelling and possibly lack of sleep; all these may contribute to high cortisol levels, inflammation, weight gain and increased appetite (sleeping is one of the possble ways to loose weight, via hormone that regulate appetite). So that’s a great achievement.

You did great by avoiding the Diet Coke and going for the tea, in nutrition and health, usually, the simpler and less ingredients/processing a food has, the healthier it is. Congratulations!!

    Hi KT
This is the first time I am doing the MTM and enjoying the responsibility it is starting to instill in me to make more time in my day to do even 15 minutes of effort.
(I do not use the word exercise because that is just too tiring a word ! LOL)
I am also answerable to my ROD who keeps me really inspired.
Reading your posts makes me think there is even more I can do.
Your inspiration comes from and touches a deeper source and I want to thank you

I know you have heard this so much~you are an inspiration!! Thank you. As a single mom with 2 active teenage girls and I feel I am always on the go and cant seem to fit in a regular fitness routine. Well I have now. Better late than never. I won’t make my goals that I have set at the beginning of MTM however I will make positive changes with myself.
I am proud to see that you take time out for family, friends and yourself since most of your time is spent on US ~ again, Thank You!
Sorry to say but I do agree with your wife on putting you in the dog house for working on your day off. LIFE BALANCE!
Diet coke ~ who needs it?!?!? Kick the habit – you can do it!
My week vacation in August will be in Estes Park, CO and I need to be (will be) ready to hike the mountains!

    Take care,

    Barb 🙂

I hope to some day myself, after mastering the clinical aspect of this company to have the opportunity to work in the corporate aspect and perfect it as well! I worked for a DaVita unit in Oknmulgee,OK and recently moved to California and became a part of the DaVita team in Redding. I just want to tell you I can’t express enough how amazing this company is and I hope to work closely together in the future.
Thank You so much for the chance to have a lifelong career in DaVita

    Hi KT,

You have been a great inspiration to all of us. I must admit reading about your daily routine has worn me out at times. Not sure how you do it? Hopefully after this challenge you do not continue to push yourself too hard, you only have one body. But then again you can always get new replacement parts these days.

Massage therapy I can relate. I call my masseuse – A Brut.

The challenge is coming to an end and I will surely miss your postings, I especially enjoyed reading about your precious moments spent with nature. Please try and stay out of the dog house, remember family first so continue to make time for them. Work that I love and long hours is something that I struggle with too.

I will promise to continue to push myself towards better health; next year will be my milestone at 55 years young.

I work at HCP and not sure if you have a blog elsewhere on the DaVita website, if so please share where I can find it. If not, please consider one. Possibly a monthly update, you know if we vote for you to have one we would win.

Thank you again for your time and all your stories that you have shared with us for the past few weeks.
