Yo DaVita !!
Another 3000 page views of the little Mayor’s journal last week, almost 20,000 in total — so we are having a good and robust conversation.
I stopped doing email about 11 pm on Sunday night. I turned the light’s out at midnight as I finished my day’s reading in bed as is the norm. I had a 5:45 wake up call but I found I just did not feel like getting out on a bike at that time. So I took a brisk walk up the hill to the mountain ridge, about 35 minutes of exhilarating fresh air. Then we rushed into the car for 2 hours of phone calls as we drove back to Denver.
I went from strategy meetings (our annual strategy session with the Board is next week) to public policy meetings (discussing that terrible rate cut we will be hit with in January of 2014) to compliance to a new executive announcement to a doctor issue etc etc.. Back to back as usual. Then I had an early dinner with 5 other CEO’s where we had some great discussions on productivity/process improvement, and I was home by 9:30. It took 45 minutes to unpack and pack as I leave shortly this morning for my HealthCare Partners meeting in Las Vegas. I am working now before the flight, will do email on the flight, then will have back to back meetings with about 15 different wonderful executives from HCP all day, then dinner with the CEO of a hospital company we do business with and are discussing some new opportunities. The dinner will end at 7:30 for him to catch a flight, I will then have an HCP Strategy Presentation for the Board meeting until 8:45, then a one on one with Dennis Kogod from 9 to 10. Then a few email and bed. So I need to hustle now and get to my workout!
I did not have a diet soda yesterday! So it is clear I will exceed my goal as I am averaging well under 1 per day, versus what must have been something like an average of 1.6 or 1.8 before MTM.
Even better news I finally got to weigh myself this am, on my home scale, right after getting up, without any special circumstances from the day before (like dehydration, or water retention due to eating a pizza or something) and the weight was 188.8.
The bad news is I will not hit my goal of losing 10 pounds to 184.0. The good news is I am down 5.2 pounds. Hopefully I can add a couple more this week. The fact that I will be doing a 65 mile road bike ride on Thursday, with some decent hills, will help.
I hope you are all well, and achieving your goals. Together we are strong! Together we will all get healthier! Together we will stand. One for all, KT

I know many people say this but I am completely inspired when I read how hard our Mayor works to not only stay healthy but to forward the mission of our village. I had a talk with one of the ops managers here this morning and we have no excuses for us to live healthier lifestyles and challenge ourselves daily. One for ALL!

Dear KT: Thank you for doing the Ola Ala with the Hawaii theme for “Match the Mayor”. This is my third “Match the Mayor” and I believe the most enjoyable one yet. I was blest to visit Hawaii in 1998 and it was everything that I expected and more and the Ola Ala brought back such sweet memories of my time with my daughter and son-in-law who were stationed there.
I know everyone needs a little nudge in the right direction from time to time. You are such an encouragement to the team. Many thanks for helping me stay on task with my exercise and leading by example. Sincerely, Sheryl Wetzel

I cannot agree more with what Sheryl said in her last paragraph. I feel so “alive” and I could not have been this successful without the Village behind me, 25lbs down!!!!!! I also have been very excited to see where in Hawaii we “visit” next, I have never been; so this has been a unique way to experience something new. I also have tried a few of the dinner plates that have been suggested and they have been dee-lish!!! Fighting Flamingo’s….. WE ARE HERE!!!;)
Take care to all and have a TERRIFIC TUESDAY, LOL!

Wow…. I feel like I need a break after reading how your last 24hours were like. Like always your journals are great motivation to all of us. I personally have not lost weight but instead have managed not to gain weight, stay fit and feel great.
Keep up the Great Work!

Dear KT: I love that you take the time to share with us your busy day and your work out schedules. This is my second “Match the Mayor” but last year, I fell off the wagon. This year, when I read the hours you put in and can still get up and excerise, I think, I can do the same thing. I have a big labrador who goes to camp on Tuesday’s, so I would think, I don’t have to get up and walk him, he will be at camp! I have set my alarm extra early to make sure that the two of us get up and walk our mile every morning and every night – including Tuesdays. Thank you for sharing with us because it is my motivation in staying fit. I have lost 12 pounds since the start of MTM and it has inspired me to do more than walking for next year’s MTM. Sincerly, Becky Christoff

Thank you for sharing your daily activities. I have no excuse not to go to do any physical activity with a busy schedule ( I usually use my kids as an excuse for not getting any exercise in my schedule). It has been 2 days that I’m sore and not complaining about it because I am working on my weight goal! And I want to win a Tennis match this year!
