Yo DaVitans!
It is Wednesday morning, and it is a beautiful one! Hope you all are well, and going to achieve your daily goal today. Also, that you have scheduled your weekend with your health goals in mind.
I had successful meetings in DC yesterday, and took off about 3:30 to head back to Colorado. I did do 24 minutes on the bike in the morning, but that was it.
However, when I got to our cabin in Colorado, I did 90 minutes of work and then went out for a quick 25 minute mountain biking ride on a big hill (we are in the mountains) before a late dinner.
The bad news is I had 1.5 diet cokes yesterday, perhaps the first day I have had more than 1.0 since MTM started. Oh well. I was exhausted. The good news is I am still well ahead overall, and I think the new and lower consumption level is becoming “normal” for me and will be sustained. I think I will continue to track it. In fact I will.
On the weight front, we don’t have a scale up here. But I am not feeling good.
Today I will go out and do a very intense mountain biking ride. It will be glorious! And I will do hundreds and hundreds of emails. That will be less glorious.
I look forward to reading some of the recent notes you have sent in. I do read them all.
Happy Birthday America, we will watch fireworks tonight and go to a July 4th concert tomorrow, one where they hand out flags to wave and play all the classic American songs. On several of them, the whole crowd joins in. For our teammates from other countries, may we also wish your nation’s the very best, and honor your history and heritage. We are one community. A Global Village. Ride on.

Hello,
I’m so glad that you are sticking to your work out. I have been on a strike from any type of work out. I have been watching what I eat. Yesterday was the first day that I actually wanted to work out!!! I did pull ups and ran. I did not want to overdo it. Thanks for sharing your routine- Inspirational

O.K., I am finally on board with the death to diet cokes! I am a total addict – 4 to 6 a day for too many years to count. Going cold turkey is painful, but I am now on my 4th day, and my headaches are diminishing a bit. This MTM thing has inspired me to get healthy, so I joined a gym and found a certified nutritionist to help me on my journey. I get up at 4 AM and head to the gym. Run a few miles on the treadmill, lift weights (not too heavy), get dressed and catch the train so I can be in my office at 7:55 AM. I have it down to a science now, but it still isn’t easy. It is never too late to get healthy, and I believe I am inspiring others to do the same. If a 64 year old (almost) can do this, anyone can! Get Up – Get Moving – Get Happy!

Great job KT! You are an inspiration, it seems as though you don’t usually get your full sleep, you work long hours, still take time out for family and friends, and even your vacations are strenuous, exercise filled fun trips. Everyday when I read your posts it inspires me to not bail out on a workout, and to not complain about something small that is going on in my daily life. Great job! You totally rock! Happy fourth and don’t forget to relax every once in a while.

Hey KT; if you want to get off the diet cokes but still want some fizz, try using a soda steream and just carbonate your water, You can drink it plain, like I do or add some Lemon or Lime to it for variety.

Hi KT,
Tracking the consumption of diet sodas sounds like an interesting project… with enough data points, a statistician might be able to come with some observations/conclusions, which in turn may shed some light on your behavior and intake…and ultimately, allow you to continue improving this habit or replace it with a better one; let’s say…drinking herbal tea…
Enjoy the mountain bike ride and the 4th of July!!

Hi KT,
You are very inspiring!! I’m amazed at how much your body will allow you to do and function as it seems you don’t get much sleep. Your work days are very long and you really do not have much time to relax.
Please keep in mind that muscle weighs more than fat so, the numbers do not always have to go down to be making great progress. You are most likely increasing your muscle mass. Are you losing inches in your waist / abdomen??
Stay positive you are improving your over all health!! :-))
I want to also say “Thank You” as I know you can’ not explain all of the details of your daily task / meetings, but it is very nice to get an insight as to what you do. I know I have wondered what it’s like in the corporate world. :-))
Keep up the great work that you are doing for us all!
Warm Regards,
Lori P.
One for ALL!!

Pull ups are brutal. That is an aggressive way to start. best of luck, you are right, start and be steady, keep it so you feel good! give yourself the gift of positive feedback!

Yo Barbara, what an inspirational message! I need to stop working until late at night, and get to bed earlier so I can do longer workouts, so I will remember your success. Please say hi to me something in the Casa del Mundo!

I feel like I am such a lucky boy to have a job I love, to have a job where my teammates do so much good for the world. It is my honor to serve as strongly as I can while I have this job. And because I get paid a lot for it I was able to fly my daughter and one of her friends to join us for this long weekend (not a long one for all the hardworking teammates in the centers though!) in Colorado – so I will get lots of quality time with her and our friends. We are in this together.

We actually started doing this 2 years ago, to help us drink more water at dinner and elsewhere. It has worked wonderfully. But not as a substitute for Diet Poison. I continue to do some tea, I think I can increase that over time. thx!

I wish I was building enough muscle to explain my under-performance on the weight front. And I wish I could point to my injuries. But it is just using food and drink as a reward after long and stressful days. And that makes no sense. So I need to re-configure my little brain and schedule and work that out. All the best!

As for the diet cokes, I have been drinking Tonic with lime. Tonic is quinine water and is good for your muscles. Our local store has bottles for $.79 each. Cheap and good for you works me!! It is not as sweet and does not have the calories that pop does. I rode my bike 15 miles and then I walked over 13,000 steps yesterday. I really slept well! I love my job because I can help people. Thanks. Ivey

I have just started trying to exercise and get healthy, not so much to lose weight but I’m diabetic and just need to get some energy. I am so inspired by your progress, with all your obligations yet you manage to make time for your health. Keep it up, who knows I may just really get moving.
