Yo DaVitans !
I am having computer hook-up problems here in Canab, Utah. It is 11:30 pm and I cannot get connected. Sorry!
No exercise for me today. I had to start working from the moment I got up at 6:15, because of some tight deadlines and the wonderful fact that I am about to go off the grid for Thursday until Sunday noon. A group of us will be mountain biking and camping, as the regular readers already know. It will be a lot of exercise and glorious workout time.
I remain persuaded that it is essential we take advantage of our weekends and our vacations as vehicles to allow us to do stuff that is good for our health – unlike what can so often happen on a vacation, namely that we do damage to our health.
I did have a diet coke today. My excuse was only 6 hours of sleep last night.
I cannot wait to be outside and pushing myself to the limit. And enjoying the great outdoors. And great company. And a great agenda, blending pleasure with business.
I hope you are all well! One for all …… KT

Hi KT!
This is the first time I have matched the mayor, and I am so grateful to work for a village that encourages teammates to be healthy. Although I am in good health, I lead a fairly inactive life – as a revenue manager, much of my day is spent sitting in an office. However, I now walk on my lunch break for 30 minutes every day. Thanks to your journal, I have now reduced my diet coke to 2 per day – I won’t tell how much I was drinking prior to this challenge, but my whole body feels better just by having made these two changes. Also, thanks to your journal, I am now regularly doing my P.T. exercises for a re-curring health issue I was treated for a few years back. I appreciate your honesty and humble blog posts – when you don’t get much sleep, or can’t exercise one day, or eat poorly, it makes me realize that every day is a new day, and even YOU deviate from healthy habits – we just need to start the next day with good intentions and try again! Thanks for the encouragement!! One for All and All for One!

KT,I thought I would tell you about the news that I heard, that you probably did as well. I mentioned a while back about suggesting to you a cola product with Stevia. Well, on the news this morning, I saw that Coca-Cola is going to be making a product with Stevia as the sweetener! So, you can have your Coke and drink it too!

a couple of weeks ago you posted that you really wanted a pop. but you could hear the village supporting you to not have one. So you didn’t 🙂
I used the same technique last weekend. I ran a race that I have been running for the past 3 years. It is a pretty tough course and I have never made it through without walking some.
And the next day, I went running with my dad as normal. It is a four mile course–also pretty tough with several steep hills. I have NEVER made it through that course without walking either. And I have been running that course for 3 years almost every weekend. But that day I ran the whole thing without walking at all.
It was amazing!! So thank you for sharing the technique–it does work!

Hey KT while you are in Kanab,Utah, you should jot on over to Zion National park and take the shuttle to the different hiking spots along the way, it’s awesome…weeping rock is one of the hikes and the rock actually weeps. It’s a short trip from Kanab and absolutely beautiful! Enjoy Kanab….my dad was born and raised there!

You are a GREAT inspiration to me and the teammates here at World HDQTRS in Denver, Co. I sure enjoy reading about all the places you are seeing and all that you do.

I think it is great that you are taking the time to go biking for a few days. It inspires the rest of us to include time for us in our days. I wanted to tell you that with you as an insperation, I have been consistent this year, and excercised everyday so far. At first I would think,”Ughh” I am so tired, now I look forward to it.
Thank you.

Southern Utah – you cannot match it’s beauty (I’m from Utah, so I may be biased.) Very excited about this challenge, I honestly did not believe I could do more than I already am, but a quick walk with my dog here, and swim with the kids there, and I’m in the full swing of things. I took on this challenge with better eating habits as well, and am excited with the weight reduction results. Thank-you for the motivation to set your standards higher!

Thank you, KT, for the inspiration you’ve been! This fitness challenge fueled the spark of desire for living a healthy lifestyle. Now my body craves the physical activity rather than a bon-bon.LOL I’m happiest when I’m outdoors and have enjoyed the virtual tour of Hawaii. Makes me reminisce the travels I enjoyed to Hawaii some 15 years ago while my family was stationed in South Korea. Would love to see the mountain trails you ride: Any chance you could mount a video camera to your helmet to make a short video clip of the bike trails?

Hello!
After a week of very little exercise, I started my Saturday morning (at 7 AM) with meditation/yoga, and then continued out into the beautiful Savannah sunshine and walked through our city’s beautiful Forsyth Park. I shopped at the Farmers Market, also located in the Park, and picked up blueberries, tomatoes, cucumbers and a red and a green pepper. While wandering in the park I ran into several friends which was an added treat. Being active has so many rewards — like having friends to bike and hike with, as you are experiencing.
I am excited about trying a Power Yoga Center down the road from our home where they are offering a special deal for people new to their studio. If I get home in time tomorrow from helping a friend apartment-shop, I may try their Power Up/Power Down Class.
A body in motion tends to stay in motion, yes?
Have a wonderful Sunday!

I did hot yoga regularly for a couple of years – was very good for me. I need to get back to it, hopefully in the fall when being outside becomes less attractive.

I have never done the video camera thing. I am pretty much a low tech biker. Last year someone had one on the DaVita Mtn Bike trip, if we do MTM during the same period next year I will see if I can get someone to do it.
