Yo DaVitans !
I hope you all had a glorious Labor Day Weekend. I hope that those who worked on Saturday and/or will work today nonetheless had a glorious 2 days off, or at least one.
My weekend was wonderfully healthy, in many respects, with one glaring exception.
On the exercise front, Saturday was a 32 minute intense run in the hills, with a solid time compared to the 15 years of history I have with that run (and allowing for my physical deterioration). The run was followed by a good regimen of 3 sets of curls (20×15, 10, 9) and push-ups (34, 20, 24), and 100 crunches. I also did 4 sets of stretches and swam 60 laps (counting there and back as two laps, and a 50 foot pool). So it was an old man’s triathalon, sort of, with the little regimen substituting for the bike. Total minutes = 85.
Sunday was an all-star exercise day – I got up at 6 am, and did intense mountain biking, in the mountains no less, for 3.5 hours. That’s right, 3.5 hours, with 2 guys who were more fit and more skilled than I, so I was one tired puppy by the end. I was back with the family and friends by 10 am, then swam 10 laps and did a couple stretches. Later on we did a mellow hike in the hills for 75 minutes, which I will only count as 25 since it was not intense. Proud total for Sunday = 235!
My eating was reasonable throughout EXCEPT Saturday night, where I had a couple brownies during the day and 2, count’em 2 bowls of ice cream before I went to bed at 10:30. I punished myself the next day with no sweets except some berry crumble my wife made and told me I would be in trouble if I turned it down after she went to all the work to make it.
I quit working about 10 am on Saturday am, and did no work on Sunday. I will get in several hours today as I prepare for the week. I will get up about 5 tomorrow to drive back to civilization, first to a couple meetings, and then catch a flight to Europe to meet with some manufacturers.
A ship in the harbor is safe. But that is not what ships were built for.
One for all,
KT
