Yo DaVita,
Well after the first 7 days….
The bad news is I had “A Diet Debacle” over 36 hours on Friday and Saturday. Bad food. And I broke the dessert streak at 6 days. Horrors.
The good news is I am still down a pound or so since the original amount, based on this morning’s weigh-in! I find my morning weights are the most comparable. My weight fluctuates a lot through the course of a day, especially in terms of liquids, and especially on big workout days. Anyway I have moved from 197 pounds down below 196. Not enough of a move to be sure, but at least it is in the right direction. It makes some sense, because I did eat less, I did get solid exercise and I did go 6 days without any sugar bombs.
Today (Sunday) has been good so far. Healthy breakfast of modest size, mediocre lunch (some spaghetti with meat sauce and broccoli, my wife asked me to finish the leftovers), and a great healthy dinner — skinless chicken, asparagus and a healthy fiber (I don’t remember the name). No bad snacks all day, and a great bike ride with Jess Parks from Village Health. I set a new personal best on the big hill (27:57).We rode for about 80 minutes all together, and then did stretching and lifted a few weights. I can’t do any sit-ups right now because I pinched a nerve in my neck over the weekend when we were running straight into ocean waves, trying to catch footballs right at the point that the wave was breaking and crashing into us. A very good time, you should think about it.
This week I will be away at a mini-retreat with some VP’s and directors, to sit back and stare at DaVita and talk about how we can make it better for everyone. In order to keep expenses low we will be camping out at night. During the day we will be doing a few hours of mountain biking each day, for fun and exercise. Hopefully that will help with the weight loss.
I hope that does not look bad, the fact that we will do a bunch of biking in addition to the work. In order to free up the time I have worked every single day since July 5th, and will be working both days next weekend as well. I would hate for any of our teammates to worry that a retreat like this is a poor use of time — we typically work hard and generate some very good ideas.
Anyway, we will not have access to email, so there will be a gap of a couple days. Please keep up the good work — we now have 231 teammates joining hands to help each other get healthier!
One for all, KT
