From KT – June 3, 2013
Dear Fellow Citizens (and prospective citizens) of the DaVita Village,
It is time again for Match the Mayor! Please consider gathering yourself, your friends, your fellow-workers, your family, your pets, perhaps even a few enemies, and join a bunch of us from around The Globe in our annual Health Improvement Campaign. It has been amazing how so many of us achieve more when we join internet hands together than when we try things on our own.
It is simple, so even I can understand it. You set a goal that is related to improving your health, physical, mental, spiritual, whatever. You consider letting other people know of your goal. Then you track it, as I track mine. If you decide to make exercise minutes your goal you can also participate in the Hawaii adventure and track your progress as you cavort about the Islands. But you can just vow to take a walk every day, or increase your servings of fruits and vegetables, or increase your sleep. Whatever would represent a good step towards better health for you!
My most important goal is to drop 11 pounds. More than I ever have in a single MTM campaign. I need to get to 182 to do that. Yikes.
My second goal will be to average 40 minutes of exercise per weekday, and 75 minutes per weekend day.
My third goal will be to average no more than 1 can of caffeinated diet soft drink per day.
My fourth goal will be to dunk on a 10 foot regulation basket.
Forget that fourth goal. Maybe next year.
I will send out a MTM entry almost every day, letting you know what is going on with your Mayor & CEO, as well as how I am doing relative to my goals. I will also try to respond to some of the messages sent to me, but I won’t be able to do that every day. But I will read each and every one of them.
Let’s do it – like the community we are!
One for All, KT

Thank you for being an inspiration, and making Davita inspirational. Last year was my first year with match the Mayor. I didn’t lose any weight then, but did get active. That activeness has stayed with me; I have added diet changes, and have lost 26 pounds so far, and one pants size. My goal by the end of Match the Mayor is to lose another 10 pounds, and to continue that trend so that I may lose another 26 pounds to get just a little closer to my goal weight.
Thank you for your great inspiration!!

It was great meeting you at VillageWide— I am still living that moment. It was an amazing experience.
I have many goals that I want to achieve during these six weeks. The first will be to drop at least 2 pounds per week. The second will be to train with my family (avid Brazilian Jiu-jitsu fighters) at least once per week. The third will be to do one cross-fit training class per week. The fourth is to remove ice cream (unless I freeze my own blended fruits into a sherbet). Finally, the last and most difficult goal is to limit television watching unless I am on the treadmill for at least 30 minutes, while watching TV.
Thank you,

Hi KT! I quit smoking April 20 after smoking for 40 years and this is my first Match the Mayor because I didn’t feel I could keep up due to my smoking. I now feel I can participate and actually have the breath to do it! Thank you for Match the Mayor and DaVita’s committment to assisting the Village with smoking cessation.
