Thank you for hosting Match the Mayor again!
I’m eager to continue my weight loss and fitness journey! From September 15, 2009 to present, I’ve shed 54 lbs. and reduced my BMI by 9 points! I’m super-thrilled with the extra energy, improved sleep, stamina, and appearance – AND the new clothes!
My goal is to get into my wedding dress in time for our 25th wedding anniversary on May 1, 2011! I’m almost there, so I’m pretty sure that I can attain this weight loss and fitness goal, in spite of being 25 years older than the last time I was in that dress!
Thanks again, KT, you ROCK!

Thank you for hosting Match the Mayor again – what a fun way to stay motivated! I’m so eager to continue my weight loss and fitness journey with Village Vitality – it’s been really fun and inspirational for me!
From September 15, 2009 to present, I’ve shed a grand total of 54 lbs. and reduced my BMI by 9 points, so I’m super-thrilled with the extra energy, improved sleep, stamina, and appearance – AND the new clothes!
One goal is to increase strength and fitness to the point where I dare to attempt water-skiing again. I’m not 100% confident yet that I can manage getting up on the skis yet for this year, but I’m going to give it a try. If I’m unable to get up on the skis this year – then next summer for certain!

I think this is great! I will be finishing up a “Biggest Loser” contest at my gym on 8/31 so this is perfect to have something else to go right into. I have already lost 61 pounds since 12/1/2009. This journey is not an easy one but things like this make it more fun and seem less challenging. Together we can do this. Encourage one another while have some fun competition. Good luck everyone!! We can do this!!!

I’m super excited to get out of the rut I’ve been in and make a sharp U-turn toward better health. I think my vintage T-bird will handle the U-turn (or a 3 point turn). 🙂
My goal is walk 3 miles a day and to quit smoking cigarettes.

Hi, girls (and guys)!
Me, too, finishing a “Biggest Loser” contest at Lifetime Fitness tomorrow, so this is perfect timing! Fabulous work, Roxanne – 61 lbs. since 12/1/2009! It’s -51 for me, but I’ve been on a plateau recently so I’m hoping to kick it into gear with this!
Susan, we got bikes this year, but I haven’t utilized it as much as I thought I would… I’d like to, though. I want to try the bike trails throughout Minneapolis
Cecilia – really rooting for you to stop smoking! You can do it!!! What a great health goal!

Whitney, congrats! A wedding in 2011! Good luck getting to your goal for your big day!
I’m actually seeking to get back into my wedding dress (circa 1986) for 5/1/2011. I was pretty little back in ’86 (110lbs. and size SEVEN), so I’ve got some work to do to attain my goal of getting back into that dress by our 25th wedding anniversary!
We can do it!
Scale victory today: I weigh less today than last Friday in spite of attending the Minnesota State Fair on Saturday!! Kept the high fat food-on-a-stick to a minimum! LOL!

I am very excited to start this journey today. I had gastric bypass surgery in April of this year and have lost 63lbs. My exercise has been hit or miss. So it is great to have something like this to keep me motivated. I have already created a scheduled. I usually work out after work at the Y and on Wednessday I have church right after work so I am unable to go. So starting this morning I got up early and worked out before work.

Good for you, Georgia! A plan is a great place to start!
Six months before I turned 50, I joined Lifetime Fitness (09/09)and had an assessment performed. My BMI was 38 and although my chronological age was 49.5, my age as determined by the tests was 58 – completely mortifying.
I immediately signed up with a trainer w/ nutrition + fitness expertise, and joined Weight Watchers. My BMI is 29 and I’m -54 lbs. Size 12! I thought I’d never see this day again! BMI is still in the “overweight” range until it’s <25, so onwards! With continued exercise and good nutrition, I know I can achieve my goal. I use an Excel spreadsheet to log every bite-lick-taste (BLT) to stick to my WW points, I go to the gym 2-4x/week, + my recreation now includes physical activites as well.
I’ve gone on MANY “diets” over the years, but NOTHING worked until scheduling my fitness in 4-6x/week.
Good luck, everyong!!!

Pamela that is awesome that you took control of your health. My health is the reason that I had the gastric bypass. I had high blood pressure, high cholesterol (the tryglecerides is what was really high) back and joint pain and I was borderline diabetic. I have tried many diets before including WW without much success. I have a really hard time loosing. Even with the gastric bypass it is coming off slower than most people but at least it is coming off and my health has improved tremendously. No longer on any medication. My BMI was 48 when I had my surgery. I am not sure what it is now because I just haven’t checked. I feel so much better and because with the surgery some things that I eat make me sick which is a great thing because I stay away from those items and I am eating alot healthier. I like you (BLT). I think I will steal that from you and start doing that. I am trying to exercise 5-6 times a week. I haven’t been able to though which is why on the days that I can’t exercise after work I am going in the morning. I am hoping this will kick start my weightloss some. I have gone down 4 dress sizes since starting. I will be 42 this year and feel better than I have in a long time. I am so glad this challenge came up. It is really going to up my exercise and keep me motivated.
Good luck to everyone 🙂

I HAD to take charge – to avoid DM2, lower BP, & lose the knee pain.
Google “BMI calculators” and click on the first link!
I got BLT from WW, so feel free – it’s helped me ALOT. I stay within specific nutritional ranges provided by my nutritionist-WW-trainer:
at least 1100-1200 calories/day
max 24g fat/day
max 1200mg sodium/day
~125 carbs/day
min 20g fiber (I supplement if I have to)
MIN. 80g protein (supplement if necessary)
Also a good multivitamin daily
I had to join the gym & SCHEDULE trainer to get started; now I fly solo using my years’ worth of training sheets, and I go on the same days as if I were still meeting w/ the trainer.
It was a big $$$$ investment, but well worth it to me to feel and look this much better. I think the last 30 lbs. will be hard, though, so this is great!

I have to make sure I get alot of protein because of the gastric bypass. I average 100+. I do two protein shakes a day. I haven’t really been counting calories or fat but do try to watch them. I am eating around about 800-1000 calories a day. Which is about normal for how far out from surgery I am. I have about 57 more pounds to loose and I know that it is going to get harder the closer I get to goal. Good luck on reach your goal. I know we can do it.
