From KT – Aug. 24, 2016
Greetings to the good People of DaVita !
It is Wednesday mid-day, our final day at our cottage in northern Wisconsin. I think I will escape with about 3.0 hours of work today, not as bad as I feared. I hope to do better during the 3 vacation days I have booked for next week, although there is so much going on I know there will be some “pollution”. Life’s rich pageant!
My shoulder was pretty dead tired yesterday, after the 3 prior days of big therapy sessions. So I pulled things back to 16 sets of therapy. I will take it back up today!
I also did the 32 minutes of cardio, and about 5 minutes of quiet time/meditation, I just could not quite settle down for longer.
I am reading a couple of good books, the first is about the war with the Philippines back around 1900, and the second is about the real life stories of 4 young Hispanic women being raised in the Denver area, called “Just like us.” Helen Thorpe is the author of the latter book.
That is it for now, I want to get back down to the family! I hope each of you is reaching your MTM goals !! I will have some participation data soon, we will learn more about the 2800 teammates we are in solidarity with!!
Ciao! KT

Cheers KT! Your determination and enthusiasm are an inspiration. I tore a disc in my lower back 2 years ago and it feels like this is the first time in a long time that I am feeling robust again. It does take time to heal. But it also takes a lot of mental fortitude to endure the process. Thank you for raising the ‘bar’ in each of us!
Thoughts become things. Think positively about each of your outcomes and surely they will arise! If I can do it, anybody can!!!
Well wishes,
Marissa

Thank you for your inspiration! I love the competition and look forward to Tour DaVita. I am sure I will be ready! Say hello to Wisconsin for me. I was born in Milwaukee and my family settled in Merrill!

Aug 25 2016, Going to swim at the local college swimming pool after my 12 hour work shift. Getting my cardio on and trying not to stress my joints by jogging or traditional work outs. After walking and standing for multiple hours my knees, ankles, hips and back are stressed and swimming is my cardiovascular workout of choice. My off work days basketball with the college guys is great unfortunately I am not 20 years old anymore but I will make it rain 3 pointers if they don’t guard me. Glad to hear your healing and feeling better. I have also decided to dust off the ten speed and give it a go once again. Thanks for your inspiration, dedication and I hope as a village we can make this company the best healthcare system ever created.
sincerely Bruce Newton

Hi KT.
You can try “Pranayama” (Controlled Breathing) before you settle to meditation. There are variety ways of doing Pranayama. Sometimes, I have see one or other type of pranayama helps me to go deeper in meditation.
Happy Life 🙂
