Good morning all! Hope you’re having a great day. I loved KT’s recent message that read “You don’t have to be great to get started, but you have to get started if you want to become great.” That is a real motivating statement! I can’t achieve everything today, but I can do one thing.
I finally weighed in and today I weigh 189. The last time I weighed was about 3 weeks ago and then I was 192, so I am losing. My goal for the rest of the campaign is to exercise daily for a minimum of 30 minutes, but I wouldn’t be disappointed if I also lost 5 pounds. Yesterday I walked for 30 minutes. My daily exercise really gets boosted by taking a 5-10 minute walk during my work day: I get increased energy and part of the 30 minutes is over! HANG TOUGH! I want to hear from more teammates on their goals and progress; I need your inspiration and support.

Well, I did it…not only am I riding my bike every day for at least 30 minutes, but I woke up last Saturday morning and told my husband that I was quitting smoking. I haven’t had one since Friday night (8/22). Today is August 27th and, suprisingly, I’m doing very well. Every morning I wake up and I’m so proud of myself for making it through another day smoke free and also for making this commitment. KT, thanks for being instrumental in my success. Ever since I signed up for “Match the Mayor” I thought about quitting smoking, but I was sure the biking would be enough of a change for me. I am so glad that I made the decision to quit. When I’m home and get a cravin, I jump on my bike and do a five or six mile ride. (Yes, sometimes I’m on my bike two or three times a night…but it beats the heck out of the alternative!!) During my work day I just “work” through the occassional craving. Congratulations to EVERYONE on their positive changes in their lives…keep up the fantastic work!!!

Well, the training for Tour DaVita goes on and I am 10 days smoke free. I finally succumed to “the gum.” I just could not get behind the idea of putting nicoteine into my body in the form of a patch or gum or lozenges when my goal is to quit nicoteine but I gotta tell ya, it worked. I use it very sparingly but I am glad I have it when the irresistable urge comes over me. A couple of chomps, the serenity prayer and I am ready to go not smoke. I haven’t gained any weight yet but it’s only been 10 days and I am riding more hours to train for The Tour. I picked a great time to quit smoking!

HEY Y”ALL, ( I just love Paula Deen southern voice)

Well where do I begining the good or bad? July 21 I weight in at 231 and as of 8/18/08 weigh 215 . I was walking everyday for 30 minutes. Then started visiting the toy area of Target, Wal-mart and Toys R US to purchase some outside activities. Enjoyed playing badminton for 45 minutes a day , then we purchased a kick ball ( felt like a kid again). My meals was yogurt and granola for breakfast, fruit and grilled chicken or baked fish for lunch or dinner. Now for the sad part the choclate monster took over me for a week . 🙁 So I have now got back on track as of 8/25/08. And now that Fay has gone I may get to go outside and enjoy the activites again before Gustov hits. ONE FOR ALL & ALL FOR ONE!!!!!

Good morning teammates, hope everyone is well. Thank you to those who wrote messages as each one is inspirational and helps me with motivation. This campaign is just what I needed to get me going again.
Last night I re-joined my Deep Water Aerobics class and did those exercises for 40 minutes. This type of class is a great deal of fun (a DaVita value) because the flotation belt keeps you afloat with your head out of the water, so the participants talk as we jog, kick, flutter, or cross country ski around the pool. These exercises are intense and I am always hungry afterwards, so I went home and had a big salad and some almonds.
Throughout the day I drank 8 cups of water, including two cups of herbal tea. The tea helps me enjoy the water more. Eating wise, I am focusing on getting at least 5 vegetables and fruits per day, with emphasis on the vegetables as they are so filling and low in carbs.
Keep up the good work teammates and keep moving!
