Lillie Magallanes, RIVERSIDE, CASo, the weekend is here and I am hoping I will NOT fall off the wagon!! I have been doing really good this week by walking M-Th for 45 mins. I have been trying really hard to add color to my meal plates each day and have actually been eating at least 3 fruit/veggie servings a day. Yay! Keep posting everyone because reading all your posts really motivates me! TGIF

KT –Dear Lillie – you are doing GREAT !! good luck the rest of this weekend. KT

Tahnee Turner, RANCHO CORDOVA, CAI shaved 1 minute off of my mile (run) time yesterday….okay, okay….it was 43 seconds, but in the art of personal encouragement I’m going to round up!!
KT –Yo Tahnee – CONGRATULATIONS !!! you are giving your body a great gift …. KT

Katina Schlichting, BALTIMORE, MDIt is frustrating when you want to exercise so bad but the weather is a deterrent due to health problems. I was born with a congenital heart defect, which was corrected, but still left me with pulmonary hypertension. Now that I’m older diabetes and high blood pressure gets added onto the list. So I have to go slow and not push myself as hard as I would like which has left me indoors. This has been a major deterrent f

KT –Dear Katina, my heart hurts as I read your note. These are extra tough challenges you face. My hope for you is that you build slowly and steadily, and end up doing more than most thought you ever could. Dreams do come true in life, sometimes, if you don’t give up. So many of mine have come true, at the DaVita Village. You have all my energies flowing your way. KT

SHARDA PATEL, IRVINE, CAToday is just my day 2 I started late but this is so motivational. I took out my long time put away juicer and started drinking green juice for breakfast. (2 steam Kayle, 1 celery 1/2 apple and ginger root ) Lunch would be cottage cheese and orange. After work power walk for 30 mins outside

KT –You go Sharda! I have never tried the juicer stuff, and to be honest after my 5 hours of biking yesterday I had a big helping of flank steak and some ice cream. Life’s rich pageant! KT

Carol Myers, TACOMA, WAWell, we are all off to a good start. Started doing stairs here at work. Team Evergreen is located in a 10 story building, only doing a few flights at a time, but I feel the difference already. Whew, here we go.

KT –Greetings Carol – this is such a good idea — maybe I will start doing the stairs at The Casa Nueva … altho I am almost always racing up after one call on my drive to get to my desk to the next call or meeting … let me think about trying it tho. KT

Pamela Brule, MINNEAPOLIS, MNTracked all my nutrition yesterday and did an hour walk around Normandale Lake last evening with 5# weights to do some arm exercises while walking to boost the heart rate (bicep curls, shoulder presses, tricep extensions). I’m pleased that I stuck to a healthy entree when we went out to dinner (Red Lobster: tilapia, shrimp, asparagus on brown rice – skipped the biscuits, salad w/ creamy dressing, alcohol, and dessert.

KT –You are cruising Pamela! Power walks are so cumulatively powerful, and so doable by everyone, I am glad you are publicizing what you are doing. That is part of the power of MTM, everyone sharing their victories and defeats, their ideas and their feelings. MTM is a highly human enterprise. KT

Deanna DeLeone, ASHTABULA, OHI am so proud of myself; I have lost 3 pounds since Monday. When you get past the age of 50, it is more difficult to lose weight. This program is really helping me to get motivated. I have walked on my treadmill everyday for at least 30 minutes.

KT –Go Deanna! Is it really true it is harder to lose weight? I know the metabolism slows down, so that makes sense – unless the lower metabolism also means lesser appetite, in which case it would net out. Anyone know? KT

Margie Locke, NORTH WINDHAM, CTHello to all I found a great toy to help track and motivate Smart Heath watch that is a pedometer and reads pulse distance and time you can find in a lot of places Amazon and bj’s but 1/2 price 20$ at tjmaxx yeah……Trying to re-lose the 10 I found back after losing 45 with the last challenge but have to seriously motivate myself please battling some illness will hopefully kick by w/e on atb…Hot and humid in Ct. Ha

KT –Yo Margie – what is atb? I am looking forward to the Tour DaVita in Ct! KT

Tammy Willis, WINTER PARK, FLHappy Friday Teammates!! I have to thank one of my teammates Melissa because for the first time in a long time I have actually had a small best 6 days in a row and my energy has improved some and believe I am more focus. In addition I have cut back from 3-4 cups for coffee by 11am to 2 cups. I have my OCEAN Spray Craisins on my desk. THIS MORNING I FEEL GREAT!!! Everyone stay focus and have a wonderful weekend!!

KT –GREAT work Tammy! Funny how often when you live better, you also feel better … and then one wonders why we didn’t do it earlier! Please give Melissa a hug from the rest of us. KT

Melissa O’Connell, ORLANDO, FLHappy Friday everyone. Since starting the Trail…it has kept my focused this week to hit the gym at the bright and early time of 5:00am; which in return helps me to make better choices through the day. I have fellow teammates who have also started and we are Trailmates so we can encourage each other. Love seeing so many teammates working on getting healthier. Have a great weekend.

KT –Teammates and TRAILMATES, I love the way that sounds, do you mind if I steal it and use it. I am trying to restart playing basketball, but I have to be at the gym at 6 am and have only made it twice. It has been so many years and I am soooo rusty ….. KT

Gary r. bjorkman, DELAND, FLStaying on schedule this weekend is going to be hard.

KT –Gary, are you making it, we all hope for you!!! KT

Marisol Avila, YUCAIPA, CA“Nobody can go back and start a new beginning, but anyone can start today and make a new ending” Maria Robinson

KT –And You don’t have to be great to get started, but you have to get started to become great! KT

Maronica Hall, BRENTWOOD, TNJust had a few minutes of fun on my niece’s Wii… going to try and incorporate more movement on a daily basis.

KT –Yes Maronica! Movement of different sorts is a precious gift to your body! Remember the 4 Pillars …. Cardio, Flexibility, balance and Strength. KT

Kelly Frye, JACKSON, TNI have only had 2 cokes this week…lol…..been drinking plenty water, eat fruits and veggies, grilled and baked chicken. Been doing Zumba and love it. It’s harder than you think but I love it!! Good luck everyone on your goals!

KT –Kelly, what is Zumba? I have to fight to keep myself at 1.5 diet soda drinks a day, on average. KT

Emily Hastings, EL SEGUNDO, CAI don’t think I have eaten this many fruits/veggies since I was 5 and my parents made me eat them. What a great way to keep track and stay accountable. Mom and dad would be so proud!

KT –Dear Emily – it is amazing what tracking and shared accountability can do. I started eating more veggies several years ago, and I can feel the difference. And now MTM has me doing more on top of that. KT

<Heather Norman, FAIRFAX, VAI am seriously going to send you a hula hoop….. you should practice and perform at Nationwide next year….. I’m smiling just thinking about it! If anyone can rock it, YOU CAN!

KT –Well if you guys bring a hula hoop, we will certainly test the adage of “you can’t teach an old dog new tricks!” KT
