From KT – June 2, 2015
Greetings to the Good People of DaVita, Inc.
It is time for Match the Mayor VIII. That’s right the 8th time a bunch of us collectively lock arms and pursue healthier lives, and in the meantime savor the adventure of life!
Back in 2008 we had 580 participants. This number climbed a bunch every year until our record of 2013, with 5400 participants in that year (last year our “produce only” goal did not grab as many of you as the normal exercise goal, imagine that). But 5000 teammates, citizens, family members, friends, and pets is a pretty cool thing, from both the US and the other 10 countries in which we provide precious care and caring.
This year we will have multiple goals, for you to pick from, OR do each of them.
For me:
- I want to have 5 servings of produce, at least 5 days in the week
- I want to do 350 minutes of exercise a week.
- I want to do 10 minutes of quiet time, at least 5 days in the week
I will also do my typical almost daily blog, giving you a sense of what your Mayor does and what is going on around the Village. Right now it is 10:30 pm, I am on a plane to Utah. Once I land I have a 40 minute drive to a hotel where I am the facilitator of a healthcare conference, where we will be trying to come up with non-partisan policy recommendations for CMS and the US Congress. Life’s rich pageant!

Hi KT! I’m happy to have teh opportunity to get healthy with you, thousands of Davita citizens, and most importantly my partner in life. I have neglected my health for the sake of being a single mom and career woman for 12 years. It’s PAST TIME to get it together.
My goals are:
1. To match your 3 goals
2. In doing so, lower my cholesterol to a healthy number that will NOT require medication
3. Reduce my stress and anxiety level so that my immune system can stop attacking my body.
I have synced my fitbit and am ready for my virtual wellness trip around the World!
But first, let me finish a PDR…..

My goal is to stay consistent! I usually sign up for Match the Mayor but I never finish! I’ve started a new workout regimen in February of this year and have lost 20 pounds! Now the next part and most important thing for me is grasping the concept that this is a lifestyle change and not just a temporary diet or fad. I want to stay motivated and dedicated to seeing the program through. Can’t wait to cross the finish line with the rest of the Village. I wish everyone well!
