Yo DaVitans !!!!!!!!
Welcome to MTM VII !!!! (Match the Mayor #7)
For the next 6 weeks we will be joining hands and marching together on a path to better health. Each one of us needs to pick a health goal. The official metric is “servings of produce” of course, BUT I want to emphasize that you can pick something else. The basic idea is to pick some change in your life, where if you can sustain it for the 6 weeks of MTM you might just sustain it for years thereafter. Now that is cool. And it has happened to a bunch of us!
In last year’s MTM I kicked my diet coke habit. I was doing 2 a day. I broke the habit and still to this day I am down to about 3 per week. I owe much gratitude to the 5000 plus DaVita HCP fellow citizens that helped encourage me to break the habit.
As to today, I was happy to get 7 hours of sleep last night. I was traveling back from Italy on Sunday, 3 plane flights, a total of 12 hours of flying, and I did email and work every minute that I was not eating. It felt so good to catch up on hundreds of emails and other work. But I was a tired puppy by last night when I got to my hotel, and my body was saying it was 6 hours later than the clock.
I started the day with a good workout, 30 minutes on the lifecycle, about 10 minutes of stretching, and 8 minutes of strength stuff. No breakfast, I ate a late dinner when I got in.
Off to our office in Washington DC I went, and did meetings and calls until 7:30 pm. I had a business dinner at that point, and then met Misha Palacek, one of our HCP executives, for a couple beverages and a wide-ranging conversation that went until 11:30. Yikes, it was time to head upstairs, call home, and then do my first MTM blog of 2014.
It is great to be back on the trail to health with you. Please allow me to thank you for your service, on behalf of our patients.
One for All & All for One. KT

I’m actually on Weight Watchers. This is about my fifth time around on Weight Watchers, but it has to be my last. I’m 200 lbs overweight, and my goals are more on a day to day basis than week to week or month to month. My goal at the end of this six weeks is to be able to say that I stayed on my Weight Watchers plan every single day. Eventually, I’ll get to my goal weight, but I’m more concerned about meeting daily goals.

Wow Kent you have an extremely busy schedule. I don’t even kown when you have time to eat. I am joining your MTM for the first time, my wellness coach suggested I join you in your quest for healthier eating habits & lots of exercise. Anything can be accomplished if you just put your mind & heart to it. So let’s DO IT.

I did well today, even given the fact that dinner was at a buffet! Got all my vegetables in; now to see if I can find any fresh fruit here…

I have been more aware of the foods that I am eating, cutting back on the sweets and trying hard not to eat after 7pm if I fail, try hard to burn off extra calories by a workout on my WEI Fit device. Thanks for the encouragement!

This adventure is exciting! I decided to do low carb two weeks ago. It just works for me. I am not doing a very low carb but about 50 gms/day. In the process I found that I eliminated wheat, most sugar and certainly HFCS (high frustose corn syrup). All my cravings are gone and I am not hungry!! AND I have lost 7 lbs!
I eat lots of good veggies and fruit. If I want something sweet, I use almond flour and stevia as a sweetner. It is amazing what can be done!!
Lovin’ this and taking one day at a time! For me it is about lifestyle change

You know I think we are all on the day to day plan, but by having a six week string of daily efforts we give ourselves enough time to form new habits and break old ones. I wish you success!!
