Dear DaVita,
I will be brief today, as I will be leaving for the visitation with the funeral to follow. But I do not want to let the team down by letting too much time slip by between entries. One for All & All for One does mean something after all, and it is nice to be able to think about something else for a few minutes.
On Sunday morning I did a wonderful 2.5 hour mountain bike ride plus several minutes of stretching. Total time of 156.
Then I flew to Wisconsin, getting some good work done on the plane. Once I arrived we had a perfect family dinner at a restaurant we have gone to for years. Felt like being in kind of a safe cocoon in an often unfair world.
I decided not to set the alarm, and slept a glorious 8.5 hours. I will workout sometime in the afternoon, between the funeral and the evening family activities.
I hope to sit down and type responses later today.
I wish good health for all of you. As I mentioned in an earlier entry, my aunt did not take care of herself in this regard and suffered from severe diabetes and its implications for years.
Take care,
KT

So sorry to hear about your Aunt. I wish I was reading about you spending time with your family for other reasons. You live a crazy life style and can’t imagine how you find time for family, let along exercise.
My grandmother was an over-eater and needless to say never exercised. She is one of my major motivators in staying healthy. I’d like to think if God chose her to be the example, then somebody (me) should be learning from it. I do not want to die that way.
Again, my condolences for your Aunt.

Hi KT,
I am sorry for your loss. It is always hard to lose family & friends.
The emphasis on good health and fitness is important and I am glad to be part of the MM again. I am trying to improve my lifestyle so I can keep up with my 5 year old granddaughter and not become a burden to my children as I get older. Years ago I was going to get a mountain bike but I never did. I am going to take your advise (about riding outside away from the TV remote!) and get a mountain bike next spring. It will be too rainy and dark here in Washington for awhile now for me to ride outside so I’ll stick to my stationary bike for now. I was reading recently that biking outside is good for your memory because you can take different routes and see a variety of situations.
Take care,
Debbie in Tacoma

Hi KT,
Very sorry to hear about your aunt. My prayers are with you and your family.
My mother is one of those who also has not taken care of her health. For years her blood sugar was in the 300-400 range. Sometimes she would try to start taking care of herself and then she would stop. She also has high blood pressure. In Oct/2007 she had several small strokes and now has to live in a nursing home and she is only in her mid 60’s. I had developed high blood pressure, high cholesterol and was border line diabetes. These were the reasons why I choose to have gastric bypass surgery. All of that is resolved now because of the surgery. I have lost 70lbs since surgery and have between 50-60 lbs to go.
We need to teach our children and grandchildren early on how important our health is.
KT thank you for being a good inspiration to us all about how important health and fitness is to us.
