Yo DaVita Village!

I hope you are all having a great Sunday, and are well on your way to chalking up another day where you achieve your Match the Mayor Goals for a healthier life.

The longest journey begins with but a single step.

You don’t have to be great to get started, but you have to get started to be great.

On to my report – last night I had one serving of asparagus with dinner.  And another night with zero dessert, that is #2.  I had the pork chop, so pretty healthy.

One of my oldest and best friends arrived last night, and today we did a MONSTER 3.5 hour bike ride, 4400 feet of vertical, hot.  This was 3.5 hours of actual pedaling, since my garmin device only tracks the minutes when the wheels are moving.  We had a couple of short breaks.

I had a high fiber breakfast of shredded wheat, which for those of you who are new to MTM I count as a veggie/fruit good serving.  I also ate a big apple, so that is 1.5 servings more.  And I had a solid salad for lunch, so I will count that as half a serving.  So I am at 3.0 going into dinner, which could be rough since it may be a pizza and burger place.  Oh well.

I am only working about an hour today, so that feels liberating.  And I am taking tomorrow morning off to spend time with the friend who flew in from California, and then back to work in the afternoon, followed by a flight to Los Angeles for a very important business dinner.

I missed last Wednesday, I believe.  The board stuff started at 8 am, and I only got in 30 minutes of exercise in the am – 20 of it pedaling uphill though.  Later in the day the Board took a couple hours off for exercise and casual conversation, and I got to hike for 2 hours on a reasonably demanding hill, and I left the group and did a 20 minute trail run to add to the intensity.  Then the Board reconvened for a 3 hour working dinner, ending at 10 pm.

I had 1 serving of fruit during the day. I veggie at lunch, and one veggie at dinner. So a score of 3.0.
