Giving Back, One Paint Stroke at a Time

On July 27th, DaVita partnered with Urban Peak to help paint a mural on the EXDO Event Center building in the vibrant River North (RiNo) Art District in Denver, CO.

Urban Peak is a nonprofit organization whose main mission is to help and provide services to youth that are experiencing homelessness or are at risk of becoming homeless. Tracy Weil, an artist well known for his work in the RiNo district, worked alongside a group of Urban Peak Youth to create, design and paint this mural on the corner of 35th and Larimer St.

My fellow teammates and I had the opportunity to assist Tracy in completing the mural. With no artistic talent, a paint brush and some amazing teammates by my side, I added color, drew butterflies and helped put some finishing touches to this already incredible mural. The mural brought this street corner to life!

Having the chance to be a part of a project with an organization that supports such an important group of people in the city of Denver was so empowering. Having moved to Denver almost a year ago, I’m finding that being a part of and giving back to this community I now call home has been really important and has allowed me to see the amazing things this community can do when we work together.

The mural was revealed at the annual Urban Nights events on August 4. The event benefited Urban Peak and the evening was full of art, music and bringing the people of Denver together for an amazing cause!
