Philip Varughese, a facility administrator in Bound Brook, New Jersey recently received the American Association of Kidney Patients’ (AAKP) highest honor, the Medal of Excellence.
Early on in his career, Philip M. Varughese, BS CHT, worked at the first dialysis unit ever established in India. Since then he has worked as a facility administrator for DaVita for over 18 years. Not only does he oversee a team of dialysis caregivers but he also uses his experience to advocate for the significance the role of dialysis technician plays as an integral member of health care teams. Under his leadership, the DaVita dialysis center he oversees has received a five-star ranking by Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.
It is no wonder Varughese received this accolade, which celebrates individuals in the kidney and nephrology community who persistently advocate for patients with end stage renal disease and chronic kidney disease.
