Mark H. Shapiro, MD, is assistant clinical professor of medicine at the University of California, San Diego; peritoneal dialysis medical director at DaVita San Marcos; and national medical advisor for DaVita’s home dialysis programs. He also serves as a partner and board director for Balboa Nephrology Medical Group and maintains a private practice in Escondido, California. Previously, Dr. Shapiro was the western division peritoneal dialysis medical director for Gambro Healthcare. He was also a member of DaVita’s Physician Council and pharmacy and therapeutics committees for more than 10 years. Dr. Shapiro received an undergraduate degree in microbiology from UCLA, completed medical school at the University of Pittsburgh and completed his internal medicine residency, chief residency and nephrology fellowship at the University of California, San Diego.

With nearly 40 years of experience in nephrology, Martin Schreiber, MD, serves as chief medical officer for DaVita Kidney Care's home modalities. Before this role, he worked primarily with Cleveland Clinic and held a number of key positions there, including member of the Board of Governors, chairman of the Department of Nephrology and Hypertension and director of home dialysis.
