DaVita Nurses Celebrated During National Nurses Week

In April, I was one of the 90 nurses chosen to attend the American Nephrology Nurses Association (ANNA) National Symposium in Las Vegas. The other attendees and I were nominated by our managers and won the LeaRN award. This award is a Village program that provides nurses, like me, the opportunity to attend a dialysis-related conference with all expenses paid by DaVita.

I thoroughly enjoyed the ANNA conference because I learned so much about the health care and dialysis industry and was able to connect with professionals from all over the U.S. The ANNA conference combined the best in learning, networking, education and celebrating to offer an excellent experience that continues to inspire me to recognize our gifts, as nurses. I was also able to network with other health care leaders, hear from nationally respected industry experts and engage with exceptional consultants.

ANNA 2018 also included an exhibit hall where several business and suppliers presented potential solutions to various day-to-day nursing challenges. This was a great opportunity for myself and other attendees to discuss multiple characteristics of nephrology. This included avenues like machines, supplies, staffing, scheduling, policies, needles and many others. By winning the LeaRN award and attending ANNA, I was able to learn new concepts and gain valuable information to implement in my clinic. Personally, I loved connecting with other nurses, engaging in conversations about patient care and learning new ways to create a positive work/life balance.

On Tuesday evening of the conference, there was a special DaVita nurse dinner where we celebrated the LeaRN award recipients. It was truly an honor to sit beside fellow DaVita nurses who represent and live The DaVita Way. This was one of my favorite parts of the entire conference, as it was very inspiring to create these meaningful connections with other nurses in the Village. I truly enjoyed ANNA and feel very thankful that I was able to attend ANNA this year.
