‘Tis the Season for Giving
Teammates in Florida present their 2016 DaVita Way of Giving donation to the Children’s Home Society of Florida.
At DaVita, we’re fortunate to have teammates who enjoy giving back to their communities year-round, all while embodying our Trilogy of Care; Caring for our Patients, Caring for Each Other, and Caring for our World. During the holiday season, giving around the Village kicks up a notch with one of my favorite Village Programs, DaVita Way of Giving.
For the 7th year in a row, DaVita teammates were given the opportunity to choose local nonprofits to direct contributions of time and resources through the DaVita Way of Giving. Nearly $11.3 million in donations have been directed through the program since 2011. This year, teammates will direct more than $2.2 million to nonprofit organizations across the country.
Of special note this year, DaVita focused on communities directly impacted by hurricanes Harvey and Irma, allowing these teams additional funds to support their chosen organization as these communities continue rebuilding. DaVita teammates will direct $875,000 to nonprofits whose work directly benefits those communities hit hardest by this fall’s hurricanes.
One example of this is in the Central Oasis division, where DaVita clinics banded together to direct a total of $95,000 to 30 non-profits in the area which focus on rebuilding the community after the devastation caused by Hurricane Irma.
“At DaVita we believe in the power of community, and as a Village we believe giving back is paramount,” says Melissa O’Connell, divisional coordinator. “This is our 7th year participating in DaVita Way of Giving and we have selected 30 different organizations in our footprint that we are passionate about. We’re excited to be sending out ripples to the community in the amount of $95,000.”
What a wonderful time of year to reflect on our blessings and seek out ways to give back in the communities in which we live and work. Wishing you all a very merry holiday season!
