DaVita Teammates kick off the MY Denver Bikes Program in Denver
Denver Parks and Recreation, DaVita and Bicycle Colorado have teamed up to offer Denver youth bicycle education in Denver’s 27 recreation centers. MY Denver Bikes is being offered as a part of the city’s MY Denver Card program and will teach youth ages 11-14 how to assemble, maintain and safely use their bikes to get around their neighborhood and other locations like school and their local parks and recreation center. Those
who participate in all five days of the session will take home a brand new 26-inch mountain bike complete with helmet and lock, courtesy of DaVita.
Five instructors will teach 20 students different riding skills each day during the week-long morning sessions.
In April, DaVita teammates assembled over 1,000 bicycles and gave them away to Denver Public Schools students. With the MY Denver Bikes education program, developed by Bicycle Colorado, DaVita will give an additional 100 middle school kids the opportunity to earn a brand new bicycle.
“As a community first, company second, DaVita is excited to create and support programs that spread ripples of positive change,” said Kent Thiry, Chairman and CEO of DaVita. “Colorado is a special place that offers easy access to parks, biking trails and numerous outdoor activities. We’re proud to support our Denver community through the MY Denver Bikes program and give back in this way.”
