Dear DaVita: Love Letters to the Village
Editor’s note: Just about every day our Village experiences a DaVita moment. And we love when we get to hear good news, a heartwarming story or simply kudos for a job well done. We’re humbled by the messages we receive daily and wanted to share some of them with you. This is the first in a series of letters we will periodically share.
I thought you would be proud to know that you have created a special place….a company where I have teammates who care!
I was recently on FMLA for the birth of my boys. Yes, I was carrying twin boys! Tragedy struck when, five days before a scheduled C-section, one of my boys lost his heartbeat and I had to have an emergency C-section. They were unable to bring him back. After breaking the news to some of my teammates, I received immense support through texts, emails and cards. The nutrition services team brightened my day with a flower bouquet, my local dietitian team came together to send us a meal and fruit basket, and my clinic teammates donated PTO so I could stay home longer with my new little one and have more time to grieve.
Everyone was so excited that I was having twins, so I was reluctant to come back to work and have to talk about my loss with my patients and teammates, and relive it all again. However, when I came back I was reassured that I’m right where I need to be. Everyone graciously welcomed me back with hugs, smiles and continued support. So to me, DaVita is more than my place of work, it’s family.
