Thanking Physicians on National Doctors’ Day

Physicians are often underappreciated for the vital—and extremely challenging—work they do. I would like to take this opportunity on National Doctors’ Day to say something that isn’t said enough: Thank you. Thank you for your commitment to improving the health and quality of life of your patients. Thank you for working long hours in a challenging environment. Thank you for your grace when you run into challenges. Thank you for your essential contribution as a member of the dialysis care team—the team couldn’t do it without you. Thank you for everything you do.

National Doctors’ Day was initiated on March 30, 1933 by Eudora Brown Almond, the wife of Dr. Charles B. Almond, to set aside a day to honor physicians—and since has become a national observance every 30th day of March. To learn more about National Doctors’ Day, click here.
