Greetings to the Good People of the DaVita Village
It is Tuesday night. I am alone at home in Denver, doing a little work and listening to Christmas music. It brings back strong memories of my Mom, whom we lost 2 years ago at this time. She loved Christmas, and created Christmas traditions and spirit that her 6 kids love still today. I strive to do the same with my kids.
So for today’s thoughts on emotional well-being, I recommend listening to Christmas music. With the fireplace going. I will shortly go sit in the living room and enjoy our Christmas tree and the other decorations that are up. Many of my tree ornaments go back to when I was a child – we marked the year on each ornament, unless it was the rough plastic you could not write on.
A magical time, if you are open to it.
Just as Match the Mayor can be special, if you are open to it.
I worked out this morning, as usual. Only 26 minutes on the bike, 8 minutes of stretching. I did walk around my office about 100 times as I was on conference calls today.
But mainly today is about being grateful. Grateful for the amazing Mom I had 60 years with, including so many special Christmas’s. Grateful for my current family, grateful for getting to work with so many of you taking care of people. Grateful. A good place to be.
Take care my friends. Be well
KT, your Mayor

Wow, what an impactful journal note. I have never responded to posts, however I felt so moved that I wanted to thank you for your reminder and suggestion. I am actually waiting for my meeting with my core team to start and decided to play Christmas music while I work and wait for them to arrive from the airport…great way to set the tone of the meeting.
I am truly thankful to be a part of the Village and greatly appreciate the Match the Mayor focus this year. Emotional well being is something my family is learning to work through and better understand as my 17 yr. old daughter was diagnosed this year with OCD and anxiety. I am truly grateful for my family and the opportunity to work with an amazing team and Village.

Dear Leticia- How do I know your name? it is so familiar to me. I am glad you gave yourself the gift of some nice music and a little reflective time. Best wishes for your daughter on her journey. The Village Lives, KT

I’m working from home today. Kind of a normal Wednesday work wise, but this week has been very exciting because, Monday, I was able to go skiing in Breckenridge, and work remotely after making about 8 runs.
Not that interesting…well for me it is. I am a new teammate. I’ve worked for Davita as a GTM for 2+ years. I round it all up, and say three years. The big news is that three years ago when I joined the village, I weighed 397 lbs. Today I weighed 234. Three years ago, I was afraid to ski because I was so big.
Monday I skied. Tuesday I walked and swam, and today I walked a little over 3 miles for my morning work out. They weren’t miles on flat ground either, I live on Green Mountain in Lakewood. I’ve made the walk I did today about 2 weeks ago. The surprising thing this morning was how much easier it was and how differently I felt during the walk/hike because I had skied earlier this week. A huge plus. I never thought of down hill skiing as an exercise, but, it is, and a good one.
I too am very grateful for the changes in my life, and one of those is working with the incredible team that chooses to be part of the Village. It truly is a special place.
KT, thank you for your vision, and your commitment to our special place.
Steve B.
