I do not recommend taking herbs for blood pressure unless your doctor has prescribed. Studies show that eating adequate amounts of fruits and vegetables can help lower blood pressure. If you have kidney disease ask your doctor or dietitian for guidance on how many servings to eat each day.

Salt is an acquired taste and you will notice you adjust to having less salt fairly quickly. Start using lemon juice, flavored oils and venegars, herbs and spices and salt-free seasonong blends. you can also include fruit or fruit sauces with meat or chicken to add more flavor.

A good starting point is to eat more fresh, homemade foods and aim for a healthy diet with less sodium and fewer unhealthy fats. Depending on your stage of kidney disease you may benefit from modifications in protein, phosphorus or potassium intake. The goal for these items varies based on how much your kidneys are working. Seek guidance from your kidney doctor and ask for a referral to a dietitian for additional help.
